It's hard to put it into words. When someone you love, has found the person they love. Their true love. It's what we all long for....to love and be loved.

I wanted that for him.

I wanted to see it in his smile. Hear it in his voice. Watch it in his actions. And know, deep down in my gut, that he has found the one.

I told him you will know...when you meet the person you don't want to live without. Feel as though you simply can't live without. The person you never want, in a million years, to risk losing. The person, that makes you be a better person. For them. For you. For the family you see yourself one day having with them....then, you know.

At a bar. Over drinks. He told me he felt that way about her.

Skip forward several months. And just before Christmas. He made, in my opinion, one of the best decisions of his life. He asked if he could spend the rest of his days with her, and hers, with him.

She said yes. :)

So a few days after Christmas we ventured out. The three of us. To find beautiful light. Open fields. And even, some blossoming color in the middle of winter.

What I found was so much more than that. I found the expressions of love on their faces. A sense of contentment, peace and at home between them. The way he looked at her with such love and protection. The way she glanced at him with excitement and happiness for their future.

When someone you love, finds the person they love. You too, are at peace. Your heart skips a beat. Your eyes shed tears of joy.

So my friends. Here's to love.

Holiday Season Hustle n Bustle (My Life)

I'm keeping this post short. Soon you'll understand why. It's hard to set a limit. Calling it a day. To turn the sign on the door to "closed". But my family. They deserve it. I deserve it. I love this time of year...and don't want it to go by in one big blur....

Instead, I want to curl up in bed and watch Love Actually for the millionth time with my man. Or bake with my other favorite guy. All day. In our PJ's. Put the computer away and get down and play more with my little lady. I want to indulge in a peppermint mocha while I roam the mall. Wrap presents. Bake goodies. Again. And simply put, just be able to see the beauty around me and enjoy every minute of it...

I hope you can give yourself permission to do the same. Enjoy the season and all that shines brightly in your world :)

Thankful. (My Life)

I find myself watching more. Observing the interactions. The love. The little things that just so happen to mean everything. To me. These are the things I am most thankful for this year.

I could say my health. The health of my family. My loving, supportive and best friend of a husband. Work, that I am so passionate about and gives me a natural high every day and brings the most beautiful people (inside and out) into my lives. A home to live in, that I love. Good friends. Supportive family. The choice to work or stay home with my children while they grow. Beautiful weather. The beach within walking distance...the list could go on for miles...

But this year. I am most thankful for the everyday. The truly simplest of gestures. These are the things that have captured my heart and have it bursting with gratitude and joy.

Like the way Kai helped Isla take her boots off and lifted her out of the stroller when we got home. The way Isla goes up to Kai, wraps her little arms around his chest and gives him a big kiss on top of his head. The way they look for each other first thing in the morning and greet with loving smiles and excitement to start the day together. The way Kai asked his teacher numerous times when Isla would arrive for his preschool turkey feast. The way he's the only kid who saves seats for his family. The way we generously dole out, I love you's, hugs, and kisses all day long.

This year.

I am most thankful for the relationship my children have created all on their own. It was unexpected. And it's beautiful.

Tomorrow. Today. Everyday. Let's give Thanks for all that's beautiful in our lives.

Head to Santa Monica...

and the fact that they were up for my "I have an idea!" antics, made it all the sweeter :)

A Family at Home (Newport Beach Family Photographer)

Last weekend I headed down the coast to Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach to meet one beautiful couple and the five beautiful children and their families that they have joined together.

What an amazing family it was!

Honestly now, aren't they all just stunning? And look at all the kiddos! Full of adorable smiles and sweet little personalities :)

Because there was no way I could leave out any of these cuties on the blog...you get to see all of them...but just one for now!

You can tell, these are two very proud grandparents ;D

You know the feeling. When everything in your world seems to come together. Just as it's supposed to be. You're at peace, all feels right. Your family is complete.

This is the feeling I got from this beautiful family. With two big brothers to watch over her as she grows, mommy and daddy were beyond thrilled to welcome a baby girl into their family. It was clear, everyone was over the moon to bring this little princess home :)

And it only seemed fitting to photograph her on her throne!

Big brothers were full of spunk and I loved it! Boys will be boys! ;D

I love to capture siblings together...capture their instant connection and knowing glances...the bond that will last a lifetime..

We had so many beautiful shots of mama with baby girl, but this one just takes me in...I love the intimacy here, like I wasn't even there..

If this was me. I would be one hot mess of a mama. I'm talking frazzled, stressed out, sweatsuit wearing, drive-thru loving mama...

if I was the mama of two little ones a mere 14 months apart.

But no, not this hot mama! Not only is she completely polished and put together, but she is super chill, go with the flow, ever the positive energy and it all just radiates from her. I instantly fell in love with her energy...

and oh yes, after our session when i was tuckered out, she was just catching her second wind and heading to story time!! And I must also add...

a man that can keep up with her, is one very special guy (and daddy) ;)

A Buzz & Butterfly Halloween (My Life)

I must admit. I'm beginning to really love this holiday. This year it was a full day of Halloween fun...starting with carving pumpkins and baking peanut butter eyeballs to share at a party, then we headed down to 2nd St for some early Trick 'o Treating fun with all our buddies, before heading home for a neighborhood bash and even more treating :)

So here are just a few highlights of our Spooktacular Halloween!

Usually on my blog, I like to show a variety of images...some of the whole family, each kiddo, some sweet interactions between parent and child...you know what I'm saying.

And we got all those.

But sometimes, a family just belongs together. All together. Otherwise, it's almost like looking at a puzzle with a missing piece. Something feels different. Almost out of place.

And this family. They just belong together. You can just feel it when you're around them. They are a team. At their best. Most at peace. Together.

So, I kept it that way. It just feels right :)

I love this next shot...it SO speaks to little Miss M's personality and I LOVE it!

I was anxiously waiting for this day to come. To meet the newest member of a family that I have come to adore. I loved walking into their home and being greeted with a walk down memory lane...

framed prints adorned the mantle of now big brother, as he turned 1..still looking like a baby, chubby cheeks, big bright eyes and his contagious smile...

the hall way lined with several stand-out mounts and a large canvas hanging in the master bedroom, of big brother, as he turned 2...running on the beach, looking more and more like an active, independent toddler...

now, that once baby, turned toddler, has become a big brother...

who shares that same contagious smile :)

LA's Art Colony: Brewery Art Walk (My life)

Last weekend my good friend Cindy invited me to attend the Brewery Art Walk in LA as her "Ama" was going to have her beautiful chinese paintings on exhibit in her sisters loft space...

I was sold.

Instantly.

So on sunday afternoon, my little guy and I made the drive up to downtown LA and had a fun afternoon venturing into the private lofts and studio spaces of some of LA's best artists. There's something so intimate and vulnerable about seeing an artists work in their work space or hung on the walls of their home. With the exception of Ama, I didn't take any pictures inside the exhibits...but there was plenty enough to photograph on the amazing grounds of this colony that exists right off the freeway in the middle of the industrial section of downtown, yet has a very relaxed and eclectic vibe that is contagious the moment you step through the gates...

So, here's a little peak into my sunday afternoon :)

My little guy was very into all the graffiti murals throughout the colony...especially the one with garfield ;D

Sam Kopels, one of the amazing artists, had an awesome blank canvas for budding artists to express their creativity on...

Just one of Ama's beautiful masterpieces...

Language was no barrier...Ama won over Kai's heart and gave a giant parting hug before we said our goodbye's..

Did I mention my friend Cindy lives in Hong Kong? Thank goodness for skype to stay connected! :)

Childhood Dreams- Dublin Part II (My Life- Travel Photography)

Kai was most looking forward to this particular leg of our trip. Who am I kidding. We all were. Staying in a castle was a must during our trip to Ireland. Every child's dream. And this country side "estate" was the perfect place for our family. What were originally the horse stables, became the full time residence of the original castle owners after they could no longer afford the upkeep of their "home"...so back in the early 1900's they sold the castle for $45,000 dollars and it's been in that family ever since...said the grounds manager. So the original horse stable (much larger and nicer than my home mind you!) became our home for nearly a week and it was probably the most memorable stay of our entire trip to Ireland :)

Each morning I went down stairs, started up the french press and looked out the large bay window to watch the sunrise over the Lough Cutra Castle....

Brett and Kai would snuggle up in the parlor, next to the fireplace, reading ghost stories from old books they found in the library.

Kai loved to explore the grounds, run free through the meadow, and was always on the look out for the owner's dogs or horses in the pasture.

Isla loved watching the donkey we came across on our last day...as well as her warm morning baths in the kitchen sink overlooking the courtyard thru the large bay window...

This was the Ireland we all envision experiencing...

Dublin (My Life-Travel Photography)

Last spring Brett and I reinstated our life of traveling. And this time. It was even more special (and yes, exhausting). As we now are creating a life of travel as a family, not just a couple.

To go back a little...

one day while hiking in Griffith Park, I told Brett that when we had kids I envisioned them looking at a globe, us asking where they'd like to go in the world, then we plan a trip, and go. That simple. I wanted to swim with the dolphins in Austalia. I did it. I wanted to hike the jungles of Uganda and see the mountain gorillas, we did it. I want my children to experience a life of travel. Adventure. To grow up learning that they can do anything. Nothing is out of reach or impossible. I want them to grow up knowing that. Believing that.

So to start. We will check Ireland off our globe of adventures!

Because I have SO many images to share of our family adventure...

I'll begin with where we started and ended our journey. Dublin. A city that surprised me. Left me wanting more time to explore all it's beautiful nooks and neighborhoods :)

I love capturing families here on vacation. There's something new and fresh about it. Like seeing my home through a new set of eyes. It brings the novelty back and gives me a nice little reminder of why I moved here in the first place.

The smell of the salt water in the air.

The sound of the waves crashing along the shore.

The beach cruisers resting on the fence.

The surfers catching the last wave before the sun goes down.

And to be able to hop in my car. Drive along the coast and in a matter of minutes.

At the time of our session, this sweet little lady was simply lovingly referred to as "Baby Girl".

They were still working out the perfect name...

so I got to join in on the fun and have them run names by me.

I'll have to find out which one they settled on...

Daddy's pick is stuck in my head, so I'm curious if it won out ;D

Early Delivery (Long Beach Newborn Photographer)

Sometimes, things just have a way of happening just in the knick of time. We met on the beach to capture her beautiful belly and this special time between the two of them. That weekend they escaped to San Diego for a relaxing Babymoon.

Then, the following week. FIVE weeks before his expected delivery date, the little guy decided all was ready in the world and he was more than excited to finally put a face to those voices he had been listening to for 9 long months...

As I was mailing their CD from our Belly Session, they had become a family of "3" and were bringing their little guy home from the hospital!

Sometimes, things have a way of working out, just as they are intended to.

This mama called me, desperate to still capture the "newborn" stage, yet the time had gotten away from her and she was quickly seeing how fast her little lady was growing and changing...something I'm sure many of us can relate to!

So...I rushed over, 2 days later, to find a 7 week old baby girl, literally sitting up on her grandma's lap, fully awake, making eye contact with me and smiling when I spoke to her...

and all I thought was, "I am never going to get her asleep and doing newborn poses! For goodness sake she looks like the size of a 3 month old and is interacting far beyond her age!"

At 7 weeks...

she is as tall as my little girl was at 6 months.

her hands and feet are the same size as my 1 year olds.

She cooed, smiled and interacted with me like a 4 month old.

It truly was like something I had never seen before and I can't wait to see her at 6 months, she'll probably be walking by then! ;D

Smart. Beautiful Girl.

Thank you for giving your mama the gift of sleep so that we were able to capture this moment for her to hold dear always ....

Little Bruin (Los Angeles Child Photographer)

Last sunday morning I met up with this little guy (ok, and his mama and papa) to explore the UCLA campus. His mama attended school year, so I think this little guy was just getting acquainted with what may be his future if his mama has anything to say about it! ;D

I love that I've been able to watch this little guy grow up...capturing him at just a week old, then again as he was just sitting up, now as a big boy 1 year old and on the move!

Specifically, Trader Joe's cookie ice cream sandwiches that is. They've been whispering sweet nothings from the freezer for the past hour or so while I was editing this adorable couple and their sweet baby bump...

I'll go ahead and blame it on the baby bump that must be taking me back to my late night cravings while pregnant days...

or maybe instead of sympathy pains, they are sympathy cravings...

Whatever it is...I'm happy to indulge ;)

So while I sprint to the freezer...

Not For Sale (Long Beach Child Photographer)

You know the ones. We all have them. Those keepsake first shoes, stained t-shirt, or a toy that reminds us of our babies...when they were babies. The ones we just can't part with. The ones that will never find their way into the garage sale stash or good will box. For whatever reason, when we pick them up, they tug at our heart strings and we just can't seem to part with them.

"Mama! Do you know who Light Year Buzzard is?"

"Ummm....nooo...I don't think so... who is he?" (my mind is searching..)

"He's SUPER cool! AND, has a LASER!"

"I see..." (still not sure who Light Year Buzzard is...)

"Where did you hear of him?"

"From Owen, he LOVES Toy Story 2!"

"Ahhh...YES! That "Light Year Buzzard" sounds pretty cool!" ( Cha ching!)

So...on his 3rd Birthday, Kai got what will probably go down as one of his favorite toys from his toddlerhood, Buzz Light Year, from his buddy Owen, of course.

I wanted to capture him at play. With this special childhood toy. To go along with the Light Year Buzzard story. Before, much like in the movie, my baby has moved on and Buzz finds his way into storage :)

Parachutes, Tunnels, & Slides, Oh My! (Huntington Beach Child Photographer)

I have been so fortunate to be able to watch these little girls grow up and capture some fun stages in their little lives...starting out as teeny, tiny newborns, then as infants just learning to sit up, and now as big girl 1 year olds having so much fun at our park play date session!

It's in moments like these that we are reminded of how the simple things in life can bring us the most joy and biggest smiles :)

So here's to some parachute, and park fun!

And of course, I can't forget Big Brother...who's truly as sweet as they come!

Hurley US Open of Surfing (My Life)

Every summer we seem to miss the US Open...in our "before kids" days we were traveling abroad every summer during this time, and then "after kids" well...life got a little crazy...so this year, Brett and I promised to make it down for an event or two. Lucky for us, both Kai and Isla loved watching the surfing, skateboarding and weren't bothered by the loud music and big crowds...

I'm beginning to think we'll finally be able to start enjoying all the summer events in our backyard...that is, if we're not on our next adventure ;D

I love living in a beach community. Especially during the summer time. When minutes from my porch steps I can be along the water, the boardwalk, and capture beautiful moments, in beautiful summer light between a beautiful family :)

This little man goes to preschool with my little man, so it's been so much fun becoming fast friends with the family and to be asked to capture their family...was truly an honor.

Exactly one year ago today, I was truly in the mist of experiencing the most profound moment of my life. The story can be found HERE, for those of you who like that sort of thing :)

My baby is 1. My BABY is ONE! I am in disbelief...but because the calendar, my computer, Iphone, and all other forms of date trackers cannot all be liars...I came to accept it was so. My baby. Is. One.

Today. At just after 9 a.m.

And what a truly glorious day it was...

one year ago today.

And today. One year to the date later. She continues to inspire me :)

When it's a birthday. We eat cake of course...

Because I love her name. Because she is even more beautiful than the tree in fall, when it blooms it's stunning yellow leaves and white trunks. There was no better title for this post.

With my baby celebrating her very first birth day this weekend....newborn sessions are pulling at my heart strings just a little more these days. I am reminded of how fast time goes. And just how happy I am that parents want to capture this beautiful, fleeting time, for a lifetime. I am honored to do it for them :)

When I saw mom show up with a bag full of beach toys, sporting equipment and boardshorts ... I knew this session would be all about having a good time :)

And then I saw the bond they share....

the love between them that goes beyond simply being related.

They are the best of friends.

Even if I wanted to, I couldn't have created the smiles, the jokes, the laughter between them...

so I simply captured it for them.

One day they will look back fondly at these and it will bring back childhood memories.

At about the same time they realize just how lucky they are to have one another :)

I walked away from this session feeling so lucky it had me bursting at the seams! Yet again, I had the pleasure of meeting another amazing family that was so kind, easy going and in love with their little girl that even the daddy was into what headband or outfit we were going to do next! I love that! (:

Check out this adorable vintage inspired lace romper and headband...it literally arrived in the mail just hours before our session. I was going to save it for my Mae Mae's 1st birthday session...but I couldn't resist sharing. And I'm so glad I did, I love how it photographed!

like the way this boy talked so respectively and lovingly

The way he lit up when being wrapped in his mom's arms.

The way the three of them laugh together, look at one another...simply love being together.

I'm back from Ireland! And what a better way to be welcomed home than a warm, summer like evening spent on the beach with this awesome family! I've been photographing this little guy and his sweet mommy and daddy since he was just a few days old and look at him now, a big boy about ready to celebrate his 1st birthday!

Despite the wind (that was supposed to die down!), a very crowded beach (who doesn't love temps in the 80's at 7pm!) and a little guy who came rubbing his eyes and tired (he was too excited for his photo shoot to take his nap!)....our session turned out beautifully :) I'm LOVING the summer evening light and sun flare...

Rest assured mama, we got lots of cute smiley shots,

but today I'm in the mood for something a little different ;D

I met this beautiful mama, her oh so perfect baby bump and sweet hubby with a nice little accent this past weekend...when I found out the proud papa too be was from Ireland (did I mention I'm headed there in April?), I of course had to refrain myself from asking a million and one questions as if he was my built in tour guide! Ha!

It was a perfect summer evening... in the middle of January. Ahhh...gotta love So Cal living!

The In Between (My Life)

Lately, a little ashamed to admit it, I've lost sight of the in betweens...and yesterday I made a decision to reclaim these precious, fleeting moments that captivate my heart and spirit. And it was just what I had been needing.

So between the diaper changes, feeding sessions, sippy cup refills, and countless other tasks that fill my days....I stepped back, took a breathe, and gave myself permission to forget about the dishwasher that needed to be emptied and laundry baskets that were overflowing, laid on my bed and delved into the world of my baby girl...

as she studied, admired, her hands, her feet, how they can come together

I love to watch her concentrate. How she thinks with her tongue just barely poking through her tiny lips. Then turns to me, catches my eye and smiles her little coy smile. I love to look at her long fingers and slender feet. Her big, dark, brown eyes. Her auburn hair that is now replacing her jet black newborn hair.

It is the in betweens that recharge me. Remind me. Of just how lucky I am. How grateful I am.

Santa Monica Pier + Promenade (My Life)

Take Two in The New Year! ( Long Beach Baby Photographer)

You may remember this adorable family from HERE, and now six months later, we met up for take two of their session. The first attempt lasted all of about five minutes before the rain started coming down on us...and coincidently enough it started right as mom and I were singing, "...and down came the rain and washed the spider out!" Luckily they got a great shot for their holiday card and we rescheduled for the new year...

and can you believe it, here we are! 2011...oh my!

Here's take two. Aren't they a purdy family ;D Not only purdy, but oh so sweet as well...the complete package!

Park City (My Life)

Our first family vacation with our family of four...

despite two little ones still fighting off ear infections,

a little guy who decided he's not really into the snow and had no interest in snowboarding after we bought two day passes at Park City Mtn

two adults trying to manage 3 suitcases, 2 snowboard bags, 2 carseats, a purse, and diaper bag....and oh yes, an infant and a toddler...

we all managed to have a good time :)

It snowed from the moment our plane landed until we boarded to come home...so my hopes of taking long walks with my camera in hand...quickly turned into settling for snapshots with my old point and shoot.

Brett's hopes of snowboarding all day with Kai and I, rotating shifts....quickly turned into him sitting in the car while Isla napped and Kai and I played at Fort Frosty outside of town.

The first day our frustration and disappointment level was off the charts...then we reassessed, lowered our expectations and changed our plans.....

to accommodate traveling as a family. A family that now includes a toddler and an infant.

Then all of a sudden we were having fun....tubing instead of snowboarding, drinking hot coco in a tent at Ft. Frosty instead of the lodge at Park City, letting Kai take the pictures half the time instead of me.

So a new perspective was developed...and one that hopefully will allow us all to enjoy our adventures in Ireland this spring...

until then, here are a few snapshots from beautiful Park City (and thereabouts).

* I gave up on having her nap in the bed upstairs...this was her place, next to the cozy fireplace and window where she could watch the snow falling...

I can't say I blamed her.

* Kai was very intrigued by this phone..they don't exist much these days...

* Park City is truly magical at night and as you can see...it was snowing...

* I had to take just one...don't worry she laid there for all of 30 seconds

* It wasn't snowboarding in the perfect conditions that had my little man smiling...nope, it was Fort Frosty!

* A quiet moment watching the snow, after naps and papa was out snowboarding...

Christmas (My Life)

Christmas morning was truly magical this year. With a toddler who now wants to leave cookies for Santa and spread Reindeer food in our front yard, eagerly awaits Santa's visit and when he awoke in the morning, the excitement on his face brought back all the magic of Christmas morning as a child!

After the tornado of gift opening....

Christmas afternoon we headed up north to my sister's home to spend the rest of the holiday with our nieces and grandma....

In case you had any doubt...YES that is butter on lining the bottom of the pan and just look at all that cinnamon, sugar and butter in those rolls!

Brett's been asking me for weeks what I want for Christmas....so the other day my wish was granted.

Although it didn't come in a package all perfectly wrapped....in fact it was anything but, and it was perfect.

It went something like this...

one guy (the guy being Brett)

one camera

one girl in her usual morning get-up (guess who?)

one little guy

one missy Mae Mae

doing the usual, nothing out of the ordinary

daily routine

yet on this day

it was all documented with photographs

memories I want to capture

hold on to

and never ever forget...

so although they look ordinary....

they are extraordinary to this mama ;)

For these are the images that reflect my life. This moment. And they are priceless...

*Although I wish i was above it, I am not...yep, I change LOTS of diapers every day!

* The views on our morning walks never get old...I hope I always appreciate them and see the beauty around me..

* it's called double-duty...us moms (and ok, dad's too!) know all about it!

* Speaking of school...we're off for our walk/scooter ride to preschool!

* Okay...enough with the "typical" day...Brett's off work and this girl is no fool...no one (including myself) needs pictures of me cleaning or doing laundry while the little man is at preschool...instead Brett had a better idea and like I said, I'm no fool! ;D

Black Friday ( My Life)

While the malls were bustling with early holiday shoppers, I was preparing to say goodbye to my brother once again as he prepared to head back to the war zone in Afghanistan.

I was so thankful for the time we had together.

Listening to his stories from life at war, all while sipping a cup of coffee and putting on a brave face and telling myself if he's strong enough to live the experiences he's sharing with me, then I, as his sister, can be strong enough to hear them, be here for him.

We shared laughs. Hanging out like old times. Him drinking Coors Light and me drinking wine. We sat in the bar and swapped stories from our childhood. For just one moment...after several drinks, my brother made a very genuine, heart felt and loving comment that I will always remember...he may not, but I will :)

Taking him to the airport and saying goodbye to him as he boarded a plane back to Afghanistan was difficult, emotional, and honestly something I hope to never do again.

I love you little brother. Please stay safe. And if you win big from any of those lotto tickets I send you...please share with your big sis :)

Family (My Life)

We found out my brother would be on leave and home for Thanksgiving. My sister and her family would be coming from Atlanta. It would be the first time in a year (to the date) that my entire family would be together, in one house, under one roof at the same time. So Brett and I packed up the car, the kiddos and made the 8 hr drive to Northern California, Sonoma County that is, for the holidays.

It was a circus. A 5-ring circus that is! The days were filled with constant chatter, laughing, playing, running, falling, occasionally crying, eating...and then they would fall asleep, the circus performers that is, and the house would fall silent...the adults would pour another cup of coffee, or glass of wine (depending on the time of day) and we could talk, visit and catch up briefly on our family and life happenings....then the circus would start up all over again :)

It's called the holidays. A slight resemblance to the movie, Christmas Vacation! And I only anticipate them to get even wilder, louder, and more exciting and exhausting once my little brother (although not so little) has little ones of his own to add to the 5-ring Circus!

Don't let these sweet little faces fool you! You get them together and they go WILD! My only wish for them is that the love and laughter between them lasts a lifetime!

A little Pre-Thanksgiving dinner football game!

*So at 8 o'clock at night my sister and I realized we didn't get a shot of all the kiddos together...so under the "beautiful" canned fluorescent lights, in the dark, with tired little ones...we made it happen and took what we could get! Here's the 5-ring Circus!

Cold Outside, but Lots of Warmth At This Session! (Pasadena Family Photographer)

It was the Sunday morning after Thanksgiving and I was walking the alley's of Old Town Pasadena. The wind was howling and before I got out of my car it was reading a frigid (by LA standards) 51 degrees. I was wearing my warm Nike fleece, tennis shoes, and jeans...and had to keep moving just to keep reasonably warm. I was about to meet the "C" family for their annual holiday family portraits...so if you can, picture three little ones...dressed up, it's early, cold and windy out. Any other time I would be a bit concerned as to how this all would come together and how the kiddos would fair...but not this family! They are the ultimate troopers and met me with big smiles and ready to go! I LOVE that! You may remember them from THIS SESSION...and here they are, one year later and I swear these boys are getting more and more handsome all while little sister is growing out of her baby stage and looking absolutely beautiful!

Thanks "C" family for bearing with me and the weather...you all are amazing and such a wonderful family..it was truly an honor spending my morning with you all (cold, wind and all)!

I love this last one for it's silhouettes and made me feel like I was at Universal Studios on a set...but no, it was simply a historic alley way! Gotta love LA for it's variety and character :)

I first met this family when the little guy was just a peanut, and now, 6 months later we met up again and I was happy to see that he's still the little charming, easy going guy I remembered ;D

The morning after our session I skipped town to spend the Thanksgiving week with my family and brother who was on leave from Afghanistan...so needless to say I'm playing catch up and have lots to share in the coming week!

I love to watch them. Capture them.

I love how they are not concerned about perfectly pressed clothes. Or sand in their hair. Or whether or not they are all sitting perfectly. Smiling at the camera. Instead they play. Laugh together. Wear their heart on their sleeve. Go with the flow and live in the moment.

Irvine Regional Park (My Life)

So the weekend before Halloween we headed to probably the most popular place in Orange County this time of year...Irvine Regional Park! Brett and I knew it was a bad sign when every parking lot was full and we had to nearly hike in! Kai had been looking forward to riding the train and ponies but once we saw the lines for both we decided to start talking up the bounce house...and he was quickly sold ;D

So despite the pure mayhem of all the crazy parents wanting to take pictures of their kids in their costumes and tripping over little kids every time we turned around ...we did manage to have fun and I was able to capture our family just enjoying our afternoon.

So here's to going early next year...and note to self, avoid this place like the plague the weekend before Halloween :)

I came home from dropping my little man off at preschool and look what was inside all the boxes that sat on my porch just beckoning to be opened!

Of course I quickly answered the calling!

Recognize any of these cuties do yah? Eek!! Aren't they purdy!? ;D

I'll be setting up a display booth for Kristy Geithman Photography at the Belmont Heights Church Preschool Harvest Festival as well as auctioning off a free family session and 11x14 standout mount print...a new item I'll soon be offering to all clients in 2011!

So bring the little ones, stop by and say hello and grab a carmel apple or something yummy while you're there!

This little guy seems to only have eyes for mom and dad...as he really could care less about me! ;) Regardless of how many silly sounds I made or songs I sang, this little guy reserved his smiles for mom and dad! He's an inquisitive little one...a studier, taking it all in, a quiet soul....until mom and dad start playing with him, then his face just lights up in their presence and the transformation is simply beautiful to watch...

Night Owl. (My life)

I've been trying for the past two hours to put my little Mae Mae to bed....with no luck. I have an early morning session. Things to do. Preparations to make. A house to pick up. Dishes to clean. Emails to answer.

But now she's asleep. Breathing quietly in my ear. And beautiful. And little. So instead of tending to all my other "business" I have decided to tend to the most important business of all and that's holding my baby girl for a while longer...

which finds me here...editing a few pictures I took this week and sharing them with you :)

* A double play date! Kai and Owen are best buds and I have a feeling it's destiny for Isla and Ainsley ( just 3 weeks older) to also be BFF's! This picture just cracks me up and is SO them!

We all waited with much excitement and anticipation for this little fella to make his debut...but he decided he was just fine where he was! Finally...when his mama and daddy couldn't wait any longer, the little guy conceded.

Welcome little guy. You are so lucky. You are loved more than words...

* Oh my goodness...doesn't this melt your heart? They look so much alike it's crazy!

* You gave me a run for my money little guy...but in the end, it's always worth it :)

As some of you know, Kai nicknamed Isla his "cutie cutie" and while I was editing pictures the other day of this little lady, Kai woke up, came over to the computer and said, "Is that another cutie cutie?" We both agreed that she is in fact a "cutie cutie"! :)
